The K family joined me at the stunning One & Only Le Saint Géran, and oh my heart - what a session it was! Little G (2) and baby A (7 months) brought their pure, unfiltered joy to every moment, while mum and dad followed their lead with such natural grace.
We met just as the strong afternoon sun was starting to descend and cast long shadows across the beach. I arrived early to scout the location and found the perfect spot and the pristine beaches of Le Saint Géran provided the most serene backdrop for our session.
G, with her bouncing curls and contagious giggle, was all about daddy (as first children often are when a new sibling comes along).
At times she’d had enough of photos and demonstrated her independence by walking off down the beach - and I made sure to capture this as it was such a perfect picture of her personality. Baby A, explored his senses of taste and texture by reaching for fist fulls of white sand. It reminded me of when my babies did the same at that age.
There's something truly special about photographing families on holiday in Mauritius. The daily routines and pressures of London city life were left behind, replaced by bare feet, salty hair, and those pure, uninhibited moments of connection. Mum mentioned how special it was to have these photos and this time together as she was due to return from maternity leave when they returned to London - and to have photos she was actually in - like so many mums, she's usually the one behind the camera!
